Abaton ("the app") is an astrology affirmation app for Android, published by Ilgar Mammadov, an individual developer based in Baku, Azerbaijan. There is no company behind it — one person writes, builds and maintains it.
This policy explains exactly what the app does with your information. It is written to be specific rather than broad: where a section says the app does not do something, that is a description of how the app is actually built, not a promise about intent.

The following is stored only in the app's private storage on your phone. It is not transmitted to me or to any server I run.

Birth information is excluded from Google's Auto Backup and from device-to-device transfer. This is a deliberate choice with a cost: if you move to a new phone, you will need to enter your four birth fields again. The alternative — letting that data be copied into your Google account backup — would have contradicted what the app tells you on its own welcome screen.
Everything else in the table above — your playback preferences, the cached audio clips and the voice catalogue — is included in Android's standard backup to your own Google account, as it is for most apps. That is a platform feature operating between your phone and your Google account; none of it reaches me.
The app also ships with two read-only databases inside it: the affirmation texts, and a list of world cities used for the place search. Neither records anything about you.
There are four channels, and only four.
When you play an affirmation, the app contacts a service I operate on Google Cloud Run. Each request contains:
despina or algieba),en),What is not in that request: your birth date, your birth time, your birth place, your current place, your name, your email, any advertising identifier, or the words of the affirmation itself. The server identifies clips by number and has no idea why your copy of the app asked for that one.
One point of full disclosure. The clip number is chosen by calculations performed on your device from your chart. It is therefore weakly correlated with your chart — someone with access to the server logs and a copy of the affirmation database could, in principle, narrow down some characteristics of your chart from a long history of requests from one IP address. I consider this a remote risk and mention it because a privacy policy that only lists comfortable facts is not worth reading. I do not perform such analysis, and the logs are not structured to make it convenient.
Server request logs (IP address, timestamp, path) are retained by Google Cloud Logging under its default retention period and then deleted automatically. They are used for debugging and abuse prevention only.
Release builds only. When the app crashes, or hits an error it can recover from, a report is sent to Firebase Crashlytics containing:
Birth data is never included in a crash report. Reports are used to find and fix defects and for nothing else.
There are two kinds of analytics event: the ones I deliberately wrote into the app, and the ones the Google Analytics SDK records on its own. They are separated here because I can promise completeness about the first and not about the second.
Events I wrote into the app. A small, fixed set, so I can see where people get stuck and what is worth building next. This is the complete list:
None of these carries a value, an identifier, an affirmation number or any text. The only parameter any of them has is that failure category, which is one of a fixed list of nine words.
Events the SDK records on its own. Google Analytics adds events and properties I do not choose, and I cannot list them exhaustively because Google may change them without changing this app. At the time of writing they include the first time the app is opened, session starts, screen views, app updates, and — because the subscription is sold through Google Play — the completion of a purchase, carrying the product identifier, the product name and the price.
Alongside all of the above, Google collects your device model, operating system version, app version, an approximate region derived from your IP address, and a randomly generated app instance identifier. That identifier is not your name, your email or your Google account.
Ad personalisation signals are disabled, and the app contains no advertising, no advertising SDK and no advertising identifier.
Please note: because Abaton is an astrology app, the fact that you use it at all could be taken to suggest an interest in astrology. Analytics records usage against a random identifier rather than against you, but I would rather say this plainly than leave you to work it out.
Google's own handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
For the avoidance of doubt, Abaton does not collect, request or transmit:
There is no login, no account, no profile and no newsletter.

Your birth data is processed on your device only and is never transmitted, so it does not leave your control.
You have the right to object to any processing based on legitimate interests. See §8.
I do not sell your personal information, and I never have. I do not share it with third parties for their own purposes, and there are no advertising or data-broker relationships of any kind.

Because Google's infrastructure is global, data handled by these services may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Google provides for such transfers through the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and its own certifications.
I may disclose information if required to do so by law, or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. Given that the app holds almost nothing about you, and that your birth data never reaches me at all, there is very little that could be disclosed.
Settings → Delete all my data erases everything the app holds about you on the device — birth data, preferences and cached audio — immediately and permanently. It needs no request, no account and no waiting. Uninstalling the app achieves the same for all local data.
Because your birth information never leaves your device, this is not a request for me to delete something: it is you deleting it, and it is complete.
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port and object to processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on it. You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
In practice: the personal data I could act on is limited to analytics and crash data tied to a random identifier. To have that deleted, write to imappdevelopment@outlook.com from an email address I can reply to, and tell me roughly when and on what device you used the app so the records can be located. I will respond within one month.
You have the right to know what personal information is collected and for what purpose, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of sale or sharing. I do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, so there is nothing to opt out of. You will never be discriminated against for exercising a right.
Processing is subject to the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Personal Data. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at the contact address above.
Analytics and crash data are held in Google's systems. You can limit collection through your device's Google settings, and Google offers its own controls at myaccount.google.com.

Every network request the app makes uses HTTPS. Requests to the audio service additionally require a Firebase App Check token, so the service will not answer anything that is not a genuine installation of the app.
Your birth data is protected primarily by never being transmitted: it sits in the app's private storage, which on Android is readable only by the app itself, and it is excluded from cloud backup.
No system is perfectly secure. What I can honestly say is that the amount of your information exposed to any breach of my systems is close to nothing, because almost none of it is there.
Abaton is intended for users aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has used the app and you would like their information addressed, contact me and I will act — bearing in mind that birth data never reaches me, so the practical remedy is to use Settings → Delete all my data on the device itself.
Abaton produces astrological affirmations. It is intended for reflection and enjoyment. It is not medical, psychological, financial or legal advice, and it should not be used as a substitute for professional help. If you are struggling, please talk to a qualified person.
If this policy changes materially, I will update the effective date above and publish the new version at the same address. Where a change meaningfully affects how your information is handled, I will also note it in the app. Continuing to use Abaton after a change means you accept the updated policy.
